Ankle JOINTS arthroscopy

Pain in the ankle joint can have a variety of causes. Our experts recommend arthroscopy for gentle treatment of ankle pain. Gentle treatment using the keyhole technique allows the causes of ankle pain, diseases of the mucous membrane, free joint bodies, cartilage damage, protruding bone edges, impingement syndrome and instabilities or injuries to the ligaments to be treated using minimally invasive surgery, i.e. with small incisions.

During arthroscopy of the ankle joint, two small incisions are usually made above the joint line of the ankle. Additional incisions are sometimes necessary at the back or also at the front.

The first incision is used to view the damage to the ankle joint with the help of a camera and a light system. The necessary surgical instruments are then inserted via the second incision. The gentle access via the small incisions results in less soft tissue damage. This results in less ankle pain after the operation.

Timely treatment with ankle arthroscopy can prevent long-term ankle conditions and avoid permanent restrictions. In particular, the triggers and causes of osteoarthritis in the ankle joint can be remedied in good time before the ankle joint becomes stiff and immobile due to wear and tear.

APPLICATION OF ANKLE ARTHROSCOPY

· Treatment of torn ankle ligaments
· Treatment of a bottleneck syndrome of the ankle joint (ankle joint impingement)
· Correction of axial deviations in the ankle joint
· Treatment of diseases of the synovial membrane
· Stabilisation of ankle instability
· Treatment of cartilage damage to the ankle joint
· Treatment of arthrosis in the ankle joint
