Dr Erich Rembeck completed his medical studies at the Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) in Munich. During his training at the Cantonal Hospital in Basel, Switzerland and at the orthopaedic clinic in Bogenhausen, he deepened his knowledge and skills in orthopaedics.
Dr Rembeck’s commitment to professional development led him to several study visits to the United States between 1987 and 1989, where he had the opportunity to work with the renowned Dr Richard Steadman, among others. During this time, he gained extensive experience in performing complex operations on top athletes.
A true pioneer in his field, Dr Rembeck was one of the first surgeons to perform arthroscopic cruciate ligament surgery in 1988. In 1990, he joined forces with several colleagues and founded an independent outpatient surgery centre in Munich. In the same year, he founded a large group practice in which over 30,000 operations have been performed since then.
In the 1990s, Dr Rembeck founded two important rehabilitation centres in Munich. Since 2009, he has been practising at Arabellastraße 17, a renowned sports orthopaedic centre with a team of 50 dedicated employees. In 2014, these centres were additionally developed into ECOM®.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Rembeck has been heavily involved in and contributed to various sports organisations. For more than two decades, from 1989 to 2009, he worked as head physician in professional football at TSV 1860 Munich. He also contributed his expertise as head physician of the German Tennis Davis Cup team, as a member of the medical team of the German Ski Association and as head physician of the German Football Association’s youth development programme. Dr Rembeck was also the head team doctor for the Hedos Munich ice hockey club and EHC Red Bull Munich.
These activities in the field of competitive sports form the basis for his distinctive expertise in the field of surgical and conservative sports orthopaedics and sports traumatology.
